Do I really need to use a Toner? |
|
The purpose of a Toner is to return your skin to its natural pH Balance after cleansing. Most cleansers contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate, a sudsing agent that strips your skin of impurities. Unfortunately it also strips your skin of its natural pH balance. Regular use of a Toner helps to restore the pH balance of your skin while removing any additional dirt not removed by your cleanser. If you can be bothered by that one extra step, then go for it. |

What color lipliner should I be using? |
|
Choose a lip liner that best matches the lipstick you are using. Lip liner was not meant to compete with your lipstick, so steer clear of using dark lip liners with light glosses or lipsticks. That was never a look, and actually a mistake on most who used it. If your budget is limited, you can get by with one lip liner in your beauty bag as long as it's Nude. A nude lip liner will go with anything and is by far my choice for the perfect lip. I love Paula Dorf's Graffiti- it's darker than Nude, but when used with a light hand, it adds just the right amount of definition and works so well with almost any lip color. The key to applying lip liner is to lightly define the perimeter of the lip line, then using a lip brush, blend the liner down onto the lips, so you are not left with a harsh line. This is especially important when lining lips and using lip gloss. There is nothing worse than lip gloss that has worn off, and a dark line around the mouth- oh how unattractive! |

At what age should I start using eye cream? |
I cannot stress enough the importance of using eye cream at an early age. When I say early age, I don't mean straight out of the womb, however I do mean long before you ever see a fine line or wrinkle. I always suggest to my girls that they start thinking of making eye creams part of their regular routine in their mid-20's. The skin under your eyes is the thinnest on your body, and takes the regular wear and tear of sun damage making the area especially prone to drying and wrinkling. Keeping this area as hydrated as possible will help to prevent future fine lines and wrinkles. If you're reading this and you're well into your 50's or 60's and not using an eye cream, don't despair thinking it's too late. It is never too late to start doing something wonderful for your skin. However, know that a really good eye cream will not reverse the damage that years of sun damage have done. Going forward you can reduce the amount of fine lines and wrinkles that will happen over time, but you cannot completely erase what is already there. |
